Dual-audio remux featuring my own 1080p encodes and modified gg/Kira subtitles. Because of the rescaling, these encodes should look far better than anything that's currently out there (every single 1080p and 720p release I checked suffered from noticeable detail loss, whether that be due to overly strong denoising or insufficient bitrate). Other filtering includes adaptive denoising, some light debanding, anti-aliasing and edgefixing. 1080p credits and other elements were manually excluded from filters that would otherwise damage them. All of the audio was synchronized and encoded from scratch.
The subtitles from gg/Kira contained a lot of issues (super high CPS lines, scenebleeds, weird phrasing, missing honorifics/signs and tons of other stuff), so I took the time and effort to completely revamp it. The dialogue was restyled and retimed in its entirety. I also made a bunch of edits to improve the flow and reduce the amount of nonsensical lines. I added a handful of new signs that gg/Kira didn't do, improved their existing typesetting and added some honorifics and italicization as well. The original OP karaoke was replaced with my own KFX. For the ending themes, I simply restyled everything, updated some lyrics and got rid of the karaoke (as I thought it didn't suit the visuals very well). Big thanks to Moodkiller for providing the computing powers that allowed these encodes to be made, as well as basheer_naimi and Solaufein for QC'ing the sub and dub versions respectively.

Unfortunately, BD authoring companies are separate from the anime studios themselves, and it seems like there is not a lot of oversight on the authoring process in many cases. The BD authoring company does their own AVC encodes using commercial tools. If you get a lazy project manager on the BD authoring or employees who just use "plug and play" tools for compression, it looks like shit. There's no guarantee any of these people are real AV experts, either, since commercial tools are so advanced these days (all the digital AV experts are working for companies that make the tools).
This is why you sometimes get better video sources from British, Italian, German, or even rarely some US BDs than you do from the "native" JP BD. The BD authoring company changes, and even though they get the same raw workfiles from the studio, they use different tools or techniques for filtering and compression.
